What We Believe
As an evangelical church, we believe and proclaim the great truths of the Christian faith, as taught by the Lord Jesus Christ and his apostles, and as summarized in the historic Christian creeds and in our own doctrinal basis. We affirm the central importance of the inerrancy and authority of the Bible; of Jesus’ death as an atonement for sin; of justification by faith alone, and of man’s need for new birth by the Spirit of God. We believe the following truths of historic, biblical Christianity:
There is one God, who exists eternally in three distinct but equal persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. God is unchangeable in his holiness, justice, wisdom and love. He is the almighty Creator, Saviour and Judge, who sustains and governs all things according to his sovereign will for his own glory.
God has revealed himself in the Bible, which consists of the Old and New Testaments alone. Every word was inspired by God through human authors, so that the Bible as originally given is in its entirety the Word of God, without error and fully reliable in fact and doctrine. The Bible alone is the complete, final, sufficient and authoritative revelation of God’s will for mankind and for the belief and conduct of the Church and of the individual believer.
All men and women, being created in the image of God, have inherent and equal dignity and worth. Their greatest purpose is to obey, worship and love God. As a result of the fall of our first parents, every aspect of human nature has been corrupted and all men and women are without spiritual life, guilty sinners and hostile to God. Every person is therefore under the just condemnation of God and needs to be born again, forgiven and reconciled to God in order to know and please him.
The Lord Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, and lived a sinless life in obedience to the Father. He taught with authority and all his words are trustworthy. On the cross he died in the place of sinners, bearing God’s punishment for their sin, redeeming them by his blood. He rose from the dead and in his resurrection body ascended into heaven, where he is exalted as Lord of all. He intercedes for his people in the presence of the Father.
Salvation is entirely a work of God’s grace and cannot be earned or deserved. God in love chose his people before the world began so that they might be conformed to the image of his Son and receive all the blessings of eternal life. Salvation has been accomplished by the Lord Jesus Christ and is offered to all in the gospel. Those whom the Father chose are given new life through the Spirit, who convicts them of their sin and grants repentance and faith. All who repent of their sins and who believe in Christ are forgiven, justified by faith alone, adopted into the family of God, sanctified, and finally glorified in heaven.
The Holy Spirit has been sent from heaven to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ. He applies Christ’s work of salvation to sinners as he imparts spiritual life and gives a true understanding of the Scriptures. He lives in all believers, bringing assurance of salvation and producing increasing likeness to Christ. It is by his Spirit that Christ builds and sanctifies his Church, equipping and empowering its members to serve him.
The universal Church is the body of which Christ is the head and to which all who are saved belong. It is made visible in local churches, which are congregations of believers who are committed to each other for the teaching of the Word, for fellowship, for the Lord’s Supper and for prayer. To local churches is committed the defence and proclamation of the gospel, the recognition and use of Christ’s gifts, and the care and discipline of the people of God. The unity of the body of Christ is expressed within and between local churches by mutual love, respect, care and encouragement.
Baptism and the Lord’s Supper have been given by Christ as visible signs of the gospel. Baptism is a sign of union with Christ and of entry into his Church. It does not impart spiritual life or wash away sin, but symbolizes the cleansing that is received by faith alone.
The Lord’s Supper is a commemoration of Christ’s sacrifice offered once for all and a sign of continued union with him and with his Church. Its benefits are received by faith.
The Lord Jesus Christ will return in glory. He will raise the dead and judge the world in righteousness. The wicked will be sent to eternal punishment and the righteous will be welcomed into a life of eternal joy in fellowship with God. God will make all things new and will be glorified forever.
The Purpose of SBC
VISION
To be a church that proclaims the Gospel boldly, practices it faithfully in our lives and relationships, and preserves its truth to create a faithful gospel culture in Ssenge and beyond.
MISSION
We exist to know Jesus Christ and to make him known. We exist to live in Jesus Christ’s story of redemption, knowing and enjoying him and inviting others in the same joy of knowing and being in him.
CORE VALUES
At Ssenge Baptist Church, everything we do is rooted in our desire to glorify God and make disciples of Jesus Christ. These core values shape our life as a church family:
Sunday Worship
We joyfully gather each Sunday to worship God through Christ-centered preaching, singing, prayer, and the celebration of the Lord’s Supper. Our worship is the heartbeat of our church community.
Belong
Since God has chosen us and united us by faith into one body in Christ, let us devote ourselves to love one another in covenant community.
Fellowship
We believe in growing together through deep, authentic relationships. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we share life, encourage one another, and walk together in faith and love.
Community Groups
Throughout the week, we meet in small groups to study the Bible, pray, and learn how to serve each other and our neighbors. These groups help us live out our faith in practical and meaningful ways.
Mission and Evangelism
We are passionate about sharing the good news of Jesus—both in our local community and beyond. Through word and action, we seek to reach others with the hope and love of the gospel

A Brief History Of Ssenge Baptist church
Ssenge Baptist Church was born out of a desire to see a Christ-centered, Bible-teaching church established in Ssenge, a growing community in Wakiso District, Uganda. At the heart of this vision were Bosco and Heidi Bukeera, a couple sent out from Three Bridges Free Church in the United Kingdom. With a passion for the Gospel and a calling to serve in Uganda, they were commissioned and supported by their home church and partnered with UFM Worldwide to embark on this mission.
Laying the Foundation
In 2018, Bosco and Heidi moved to Uganda to begin the groundwork for planting a church. Their early months in Ssenge were focused on building relationships, learning the culture, and sharing the vision of a church that would proclaim, practice, and preserve the purity of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This vision was not just about starting a church service—it was about planting a Gospel-shaped community rooted in Scripture and shaped by Christ.
During this time, they connected with local families, invited neighbours and friends into their home, and began to share the core beliefs and values that would eventually shape the church. Their home became a hub of conversations, prayer, and Bible study and eating.
In November 2018, Ssenge Baptist Church had its earliest beginnings in the Bukeeras’ living room. These were simple evening gatherings, but deeply intentional. The focus was on expounding the statement of faith, the evangelical Christian core beliefs. Aiming to ground the future church community in sound doctrine and a clear understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The goal was to help those gathering understand what it meant to be a local church that honours Christ in both belief and practice.
These meetings became a vital space for discipleship, fellowship, and vision casting, and building deep relationships. While still small in number, the sense of purpose and unity was strong.
The First Sunday Service
On March 3rd, 2019, Ssenge Baptist Church held its first official Sunday morning service. This marked the beginning of weekly public worship—a significant milestone. From that point on, the church began to take shape with regular, prayer meetings teaching, sung worship, and fellowship and eating. Though the group was small—just fifteen people—there was great joy and a sense of awe at what God was beginning to do.
Week by week, the church slowly grew as more people came to hear the Word of God faithfully preached and saw the beauty of a community living out the Gospel together.
Growth by Grace
Since that first Sunday gathering, God has been faithful. What began as a small group in a living room has grown into a vibrant, Christ-centered community of over 200 people. Ssenge Baptist Church continues to grow—not just in number, but in depth of discipleship, Gospel clarity, Gospel community, and missional purpose of knowing Christ and making him known.
We remain committed to our initial vision
